WATCH: Davids Calls Out Trump-Musk Scheme to Gut Social and Security and Medicare, Raise Costs for Kansans

Musk gained access to Kansans’ private financial information, threatening national security
Today, Representative Sharice Davids released a new video exposing the dangerous plans by President Donald Trump and Elon Musk that could threaten Social Security and Medicare by granting Musk unprecedented access to the Treasury’s payment systems — jeopardizing Americans’ private financial data. She also condemned the Trump administration’s relentless push to drive up costs for hardworking Kansas families, prioritizing billionaires and corporations over everyday Americans.
“My office has heard from hundreds of Kansans who are terrified that the programs they rely on could be cut,” said Davids. “On top of that, both Musk and the President have made it clear they’re committed to raising costs for working families, openly acknowledging that their plan could cause 'some pain' to your wallets – all while massive corporations pay less.”
Davids supports responsible budgeting and has worked with Trump on bipartisan initiatives, but she condemns his reckless decision to give Musk — an unelected billionaire — access to Americans' private financial data. She warns this move threatens Kansans’ savings and critical programs they rely on like Social Security and Medicare. She also highlights the devastating impact of Trump’s proposed price hikes, which would raise prices for Kansans while padding the profits of big corporations.

"Let me get straight to the point: Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire, should not have access to Americans' personal financial information or the power to stop federal support for the programs Kansans rely on. This is a serious privacy issue and a national security threat.
The Trump administration has irresponsibly given Musk the ability to halt critical supports like Social Security, Medicare, and more. And over the past few days, my office has heard from hundreds of Kansans who are terrified that these programs could be cut.
On top of that, both Musk and the President have made it clear they’re committed to raising costs for working families, openly acknowledging that their plan could cause 'some pain' to your wallets – all while massive corporations pay less.
We simply can’t afford these price hikes when people are already struggling. I’m fighting in Congress to make sure this never happens and to protect the privacy of all Americans."
