Our District

I am honored to represent the Kansas Third District – my home and the place I grew up – in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Kansas Third District is largely part of the Kansas City metropolitan area and includes all of Johnson, Miami, Franklin, and Anderson counties along with a portion of Wyandotte County. Our district is the economic engine of the state and one of the fastest growing regions in Kansas, thanks to our nationally-recognized public schools, diverse business and entrepreneurial ecosystem, and friendly people.

The Kansas Third is a hub for infrastructure and supply chains, home to the convergence of several interstates, regional airports, freight rail, and multiple intermodal exchanges. Many of the goods shipped across the country and the world travel through our district every day.

Diversity is one of our district’s strengths, stretching from urban Wyandotte County to rural Anderson County. From major employers like Black & Veatch and Garmin to thriving small businesses and farms, the Kansas Third has a strong and varied economy. That economy is supported by world-class higher education and research institutions like Johnson County Community College, Kansas State University Extension offices, and the University of Kansas Medical Center.

District-specific population statistics are published here by the U.S. Census Bureau.
