Making Government Work for Kansans

Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party. That’s why I’m making it a priority to clean up Washington and make sure our government actually serves the people. I’m here to serve you and be accessible to every person and every corner of our district.

  • Cleaning up Washington: We need to fight corruption and extremism across the political spectrum so we can deliver results for hardworking Kansans. That’s why I stood up to leaders in my own party to vote against pay raises for members of Congress and to stop insider trading by elected officials. I also passed a law that stands up to Big Pharma by finally allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices and capping the cost of insulin for seniors on Medicare at $35 a month.

  • Working for Kansas, not party: Kansans are pragmatic and expect their leaders to work together whenever possible to deliver results. Each year that I’ve been in Congress, more than 70% of the bills I supported have been bipartisan. And I’ve been proud to get concrete results that are making a difference, like passing a bipartisan infrastructure law that’s modernizing U.S. 69 and replacing lead pipes in Olathe.

  • Bringing Kansas voices to Washington: I’m here to serve every person and corner of our community, regardless of party. That’s why my team travels all across the Third District holding pop-up office hours and helping folks resolve issues with the federal government – everything from backlogged veterans’ benefits to stalled passports. As of May 2023, we have helped over 4,600 Kansans and recovered over $16 million dollars for local taxpayers.

  • Supporting fiscal responsibility: I believe Congress must do a better job of protecting taxpayers to rebuild trust between people and their government. I broke with my party to push Congressional leaders to follow fiscally responsible pay-as-you-go budget rules. I also helped pass bipartisan laws to crack down on fraud in small business pandemic relief programs, so that we can recoup taxpayer dollars and punish bad actors.
