Davids, Cleaver address immigration, voting rights, and budget cuts at town hall

April 21, 2025

U.S. Reps. Sharice Davids, D-Kan., and Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., answered questions during a town hall Monday night focused on the local impacts of recent federal policies enacted during the Trump administration.

Both lawmakers addressed multiple concerns raised by attendees, including federal budget cuts, immigration, and voting rights.

Cleaver emphasized the importance of continued civic engagement and ensuring all voices are heard.

“There are places we can work with our Republican colleagues on things like the student visas being revoked, like Medicaid proposed cuts,” Davids said.

“If we started right now, working in every little precinct, that’s hard work but that’s what we have to do,” Cleaver said.

Organizers said Republican lawmakers were also invited to participate, but none were in attendance.
