Rep. Davids visits Ottawa Co-op to discuss rising agriculture costs

February 21, 2026

The rising cost of fertilizer and other supplies is putting pressure on Kansas farmers.

It was a key issue that came up Thursday, when Congresswoman Sharice Davids (D-Kansas) visited Spring Hill.

She toured the Ottawa Co-op and met with producers from across the agriculture supply chain.

Farmers told her they're working to navigate higher costs and ongoing uncertainty in the industry.

With farm bill negotiations ahead, the congresswoman says farmers are looking for stability.

"Our ag folks need some certainty, and that will come with us getting a farm bill done," Davids said.

Davids said strengthening local agriculture helps lower grocery costs and keeps Kansas farmers competitive.
