Davids Accepting Submissions for 2023 Congressional Art Competition
Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced that her office is now accepting submissions for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. The competition is open to all high school students who live in Kansas' Third Congressional District. The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol and the artist will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington D.C.
"Our community is home to many talented, young artists, and it has been an honor showcasing their talent on a national level through the Congressional Art Competition," said Davids. "I once again encourage all high school aged artists in Kansas' Third District to take part in this competition and share their skills. I look forward to seeing this year's submissions and walking past one in the U.S. Capitol later this year."
Davids' team will be accepting art submissions on April 27, 2023 between 9 AM – 5 PM CT at the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center. Kansas-themed artwork is encouraged, but all original artwork that meets the guidelines is welcome. The winning piece of art will be announced at a public event on May 2, 2023.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their constituents. Since then, more than 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
