Davids Accepting Submissions for 2024 Congressional Art Competition

April 8, 2024

Today, Representative Sharice Davids invited high school students from Kansas’ Third Congressional District to participate in her 2024 Congressional Art Competition. The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, and the artist will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington D.C.

“Our community is home to many talented young artists, and it has been an honor to showcase their talent on a national level through the Congressional Art Competition,” said Davids. “I once again encourage all high school-aged artists in Kansas’ Third District to take part in this competition and share their skills. I look forward to seeing this year’s submissions and walking past one in the U.S. Capitol later this year.”

Davids’ team will be accepting art submissions on April 18, 2024 between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT at their Overland Park District Office. While Kansas-themed artwork is encouraged, all original artwork that meets the guidelines is welcome. The winning piece of art will be announced publicly in the coming months.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their constituents. Since then, more than 650,000 high school students have been involved in the nationwide competition.
