Davids Gets Flu Shot and COVID Booster at Johnson County Clinic, Encourages Kansans to Do the Same

October 20, 2025

OLATHE, KS — Representative Sharice Davids visited the Johnson County Public Health walk-in clinic in Olathe to receive her seasonal flu shot and COVID-19 booster. She took the opportunity to spotlight the importance of immunizations in protecting public health and urged Kansans to take advantage of local immunization services.

“Getting vaccinated is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we can care for ourselves, neighbors, and communities,” said Davids. “Whether it’s flu, COVID-19, or other diseases, taking that step helps protect the vulnerable, elderly, immunocompromised, and children, and keeps our hospitals from becoming overwhelmed. I strongly encourage every eligible Kansan to visit their primary care physician, local health clinic, or walk-in immunization site and get vaccinated today.”

Extensive scientific research has shown that both flu and COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and proven to significantly reduce severe illness, hospitalization, and death. When more people are vaccinated, fewer infections spread through workplaces, schools, and communities — which means fewer missed days at work, fewer school closures, and less strain on the health care system. Public health experts note that vaccination not only protects individuals but also strengthens the local economy by keeping Kansans healthy, working, and able to care for their families.

Johnson County offers walk-in immunization clinics in Olathe and Mission — administering flu, COVID-19, and routine vaccines without an appointment. Johnson County’s clinics accept a variety of insurance plans and allow for out-of-pocket payment when insurance is unavailable. For those outside of Johnson County, they can visit the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s website to find locations.
