Davids Statement on New Lower Prices for Prescription Drugs Taken by 74,000 Kansans

Representative Sharice Davids released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced newly reduced prices for the first 10 prescription drugs, listed here, negotiated by Medicare. 74,000 Kansans will save up to 79 percent on their prescriptions. As the only member of Kansas’ congressional delegation to support this measure, Davids celebrated the new savings that will reduce Americans' out-of-pocket prescription drug costs by $1.5 billion in just the first year.
“Today’s announcement is a huge win for Kansans, especially the 74,000 Medicare enrollees who will see their prescription drug costs go down. I fought hard to pass this law because no one should have to choose between paying for necessary medicine and putting food on the table. While these savings mark another important step in our ongoing work to lower health care costs, I’ll keep championing efforts to ensure every Kansan gets the affordable, quality care they need.”
