Davids Statement on Passage of Extreme Spending Bill That Cuts Services for Kansas Seniors, Veterans to Fund Billionaire Tax Breaks
Today, Representative Sharice Davids released the following statement as Congress passed the partisan funding bill negotiated by Congressional Republicans and President Trump. Davids previously urged House leadership to work across the aisle to avoid critical cuts to programs relied on by thousands of Kansans.
"While avoiding a government shutdown is important, I’m extremely disappointed in the bill passed by the Senate today. It threatens Social Security and Medicare, cuts investments for local infrastructure projects and public safety, and guts a bipartisan program I fought to expand health care for 2,500 veterans in Kansas’ Third District. All of this, so that the President and Elon Musk can give massive tax breaks to billionaires. Kansans deserve real, bipartisan solutions that lower costs, not partisan power grabs paid for by cuts to our seniors sand veterans.”
