Davids Urges Congressional Leaders to Put Partisan Politics Aside; Provide Relief for Small Businesses

April 18, 2020

As critical small business loan programs rapidly run out of money, Representative Sharice Davids urged congressional leaders to put partisan politics aside and reach a bipartisan consensus on funding for small business relief programs.

"Small businesses owners in Kansas' Third District don't have time for political games right now – they are depending on these relief programs to keep their businesses afloat, pay their employees, and put food on the table for their families. It's past time for congressional leaders to set aside their differences and reach a bipartisan agreement that will quickly fund these critical relief programs," said Davids.

In a letter sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Davids called for leadership to quickly come to an agreement that will fund quickly the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury and Disaster Loan program, as established in the CARES Act.

As a member of the House Small Business Committee, Davids has been a vocal advocate for small businesses, working to secure additional funding for small businesses in relief legislation and provide oversight of the implementation of these programs.
