ICYMI: Davids Sworn in to Third Term in Congress

January 9, 2023

On Saturday, Representative Sharice Davids was sworn in to the 118th Congress, marking the start of her third term as U.S. Representative for the Kansas Third District. The Kansas Third District, which was redrawn during the 2021 redistricting process, includes all of Johnson, Miami, Anderson, and Franklin Counties, along with a southern portion of Wyandotte County.

Davids released a statement following her swearing in, and shared a video to discuss her priorities:

Davids' Statement on Start of the 118th Congress:

"I'm honored and grateful that the people of the Kansas Third District have trusted me to continue representing them in Congress. Things will look different this term—with new district lines and a new Speaker—but my approach remains the same: I will work with anyone if it is good for Kansas, and I will stand up against those who seek to take us backwards.

I hope that we can enter this new session having learned from the most recent election that the American people value lawmakers who work together to get results, not those who focus on division and political games. With that in mind, I look forward to producing a bipartisan Farm Bill that supports the Kansas agricultural community, to upholding our duties of oversight and implementation on the transformational legislation we passed last session, and to continuing our work to lower costs for Kansans."
