ICYMI: Rep. Sharice Davids Speaks Out Against Trump’s Dangerous Purge of Federal Workers

February 21, 2025

In case you missed it, Representative Sharice Davids (KS-03) has been speaking out forcefully against President Trump’s reckless mass firing of federal workers, including employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Internal Revenue Service (IRS). In multiple TV interviews this week, Davids called attention to the devastating consequences these actions will have on the terminated employees, their families, and the broader Kansas economy.

Watch Davids discuss the negative impact of President Trump’s firings:

  • KSHBKey Quote: “The issue of government efficiency is a real one, and something that we need to address. And I want to do that in a way that is not going to be harmful to our communities. [I am] feeling the impact for all those families that unexpectedly lost their jobs recently and may be losing them in the future,” said Davids.
  • KCTV – Key Quote: “Americans and Kansans deserve to have a safe, reliable aviation system, not something that’s driven politically. Politics creating chaos is not going to keep people safe. In fact, it has the potential of endangering passengers and aviation workers,” said Davids
  • KWCH – Key Quote: “[The] VA is not a tech start-up, and veterans are not an experiment. We will not allow reckless political games to undermine the care and benefits out veterans have earned,” said Davids.

Davids previously joined 90 of her colleagues in demanding answers from the VA Secretary after more than 1,000 VA employees — many of them veterans and military spouses — were abruptly terminated. She also condemned the firing of FAA employees, calling it a direct threat to aviation safety just weeks after a series of deadly incidents, which included a flight taking off from Wichita.
