Rep. Sharice Davids statement on House Passage of the Budget Act of 2019

Rep. Sharice Davids offered the following statement on House passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2019:

"I'm pleased that we were able to pass a bipartisan, 2-year agreement so we can provide funding for essential government operations and address the impending debt ceiling and budgetary caps. Failing to act would have had devastating effects for the people of the Third District as well as for our country's national security and economy, and could have led to another disastrous government shutdown.

"Our national debt continues to soar, and I would have liked to have seen a stronger emphasis on fiscal responsibility in this agreement so we begin to lower our nation's deficit. Going forward, I will continue to urge my colleagues in Congress to exercise fiscal restraint so we are not saddling future generations with a crippling financial burden."
