Rep. Sharice Davids Statement on the Passage of Appropriations Package

June 26, 2019

Rep. Sharice Davids issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 3055, a "minibus" package of FY 2020 appropriations bills. Included in the bills is language that prohibits the USDA's planned relocation of the Economic Research Service (ERS) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) outside the D.C. region. Rep. Davids had co-sponsored an amendment to ensure the USDA could relocate to the Kansas City region as planned.

"While I'm disappointed the amendment I sponsored to make sure high paying USDA jobs can come to Kansas City as planned was not ultimately included, I supported today's appropriations minibus because it makes critical investments that will improve the health and safety of all Kansans. That includes funds to repair our crumbling infrastructure, increase access to health care for our veterans, and ensure we have clean air and safe water, among many other important investments.

"I'm hopeful the funding for the relocation of USDA's research facilities will be included in the Senate appropriations bill. I'll continue to do whatever I can to make sure that move happens, including encouraging the Senate to take up this amendment."
