Rep. Sharice Davids of Kansas District 3 on Monday announced that nearly $1.2 million in federal pandemic relief aid has been granted to airports and transportation businesses in the Third District of Kansas.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Runoff from a rainstorm earlier this year overwhelmed and collapsed a culvert in northwestern Wyandotte County, forcing the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, to close Hubbard Road near 115th Street.

The county does not have the $150,000 needed to fix the culvert in its stormwater budget. As a result, there is no timetable on when the road will be repaired and reopened.

Legislation introduced by U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids is intended to promote more women in the trucking industry.

The bill by Davids, who represents Kansas' third congressional district, would require the establishment of a board that would focus on creating opportunities for women in trucking.

The legislation comes at a time when the U.S. is still feeling the effects of a slowdown in the supply chain caused by the pandemic.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly announced Thursday that Charter Communications plans to bring over 500 new jobs to Overland Park.

Charter Communications, a broadband connectivity company and cable operator, will invest $18.9 million in Overland Park while creating 510 new full-time jobs by the end of 2022, according to a news release.

Kansas City leaders attended the White House as President Joe Biden signed a $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill into law Monday.

Across the nation, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will repair roads and bridges, improve transportation option, build a network of electric vehicle charging stations, provide access to high speed internet, deliver clean drinking water, improve airports and more.

The infrastructure bill was passed on Nov. 5.

STILWELL, Kan. (AP) — Traffic whizzing behind her, Rep. Sharice Davids gathered reporters at a transportation facility along U.S. 69 in eastern Kansas this week to celebrate the surge of federal money headed in her state's direction.

Kansas and Missouri could get $14 billion from the new infrastructure bill passed by Congress. Congresswoman Sharice Davids says it could affect our area for a generation.

The plan has money for roads, bridges, even water quality improvements. Davids, the democrat from the Kansas side of the Kansas City metro is the vice chair of the House Transportation Committee. She's worked on the infrastructure project all year.

"I just think we're going to see inter-generational change in our infrastructure," Davids said.
