This week, in the first days of Native American Heritage Month, Representative Sharice Davids voted to pass eight bills that respond to and address various Tribal issues, including federal recognition of Tribes, placing tribal land into trust, and conferring with Urban Indian Organizations on health policy. Davids, who serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Native American Caucus, is a co-sponsor of the Urban Indian Health Confer Act, which passed with strong bipartisan support.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids continued oversight of a federal program that finances small, early-stage startups in her role as Chair of the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access. She spoke with program participants, including local firm Holleway Capital Partners, on recent improvements to the program as she pushed for further efforts to improve diversity and increase efficiency.

Today, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Representative Sharice Davids voted to provide additional resources for domestic violence shelters, pushing to reauthorize the primary source of federal funding for these critical services for the first time since 2010.

Today, during National Head Start Awareness Month, Representative Sharice Davids announced the Department of Health & Human Services awarded a renewal of $3,481,376 to the University of Kansas Medical Center Research Institute's Early Head Start projects, known as Project Eagle. The renewed funding will be used to prepare vulnerable children in Wyandotte County for life inside and outside of the classroom through programs focusing on early learning, health, and family well-being.

"Nearly three years after the Lion Air 610 crash, the first of the Boeing 737 MAX crashes that claimed 346 lives and raised serious questions about the safety of our skies, we are following up to make sure the mistakes that led to those tragedies never happen again.
