Today, Representative Sharice Davids issued the following statement after the Rotorcraft Operations Transparency and Oversight Reform (ROTOR) Act – a bipartisan bill aimed at improving aviation safety standards – failed on a vote before the U.S. House.

“President Trump promised lower costs and relief for hardworking families. But what we’ve seen instead is the exact opposite — policies that raise costs, put farmers out of business, and cut people off their lifesaving health care.

“Reckless tariffs are forcing families to pay more while billionaires are receiving giveaways at the expense of those who actually earn their paychecks. No one, no matter their party, asked for this.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to last year’s deadly midair collision of Flight 5342 from ICT to DCA, U.S. Representative Sharice Davids (KS-03) helped introduce the ALERT Act, bipartisan legislation aimed at modernizing aviation safety systems, strengthening air traffic controller training, and reducing the risk of future tragedies.

Today, after the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to strike down President Trump’s tariffs, Representative Sharice Davids released the following statement. The Court’s majority held that the Constitution “very clearly” grants Congress the power to impose taxes, including tariffs. “The Framers did not vest any part of the taxing power in the Executive Branch,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote.

SPRING HILL, KS — Today, Representative Sharice Davids, a member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, visited the Ottawa Cooperative Association (Co-Op) to hear directly from local producers and discuss her efforts to strengthen the regional agricultural supply chain and lower grocery prices for Kansas families. The visit came ahead of next week’s long-awaited Farm Bill markup, which has been delayed for several years.
