LOUISBURG, KS – Today, Representative Sharice Davids and Governor Laura Kelly joined Kansas Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz and Miami County officials to celebrate the K-68 highway expansion project advancing to construction. The project, which has been a priority of the county since 2008, will help meet traffic and safety needs by expanding the last remaining stretch of the roadway from two to four lanes. Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $75,000 to Johnson County Community College (JCCC) for its accredited Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training (CMVOST) program. This funding will provide scholarships for 15 veterans or their immediate family members to enroll in the nine-week training course aimed at gaining employment in the growing commercial trucking industry.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the National Cancer Institute (NCI) awarded $2,822,506 to The University of Kansas Cancer Center to support its life-saving research. Last month, after many years of work, the center was officially designated as a "Comprehensive" cancer center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). This is the highest level of recognition awarded by the NCI and is the gold standard for cancer centers.

LENEXA, KS - Today, Representative Sharice Davids joined local veterans to celebrate the bipartisan passage of the Honoring our PACT Act, a Davids-supported law that expands Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) health care eligibility to 3.5 million American veterans exposed to burn pits and toxic airborne hazards while deployed.

KANSAS CITY, KS – Today, Representative Sharice Davids hosted Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (SC-06) in the Kansas Third District to tour a local health clinic and discuss their efforts to close the Medicaid coverage gap in their states. Kansas and South Carolina remain two of only 12 states where the state legislatures have repeatedly blocked Medicaid expansion despite federal incentives that would make it essentially free to do so.

OLATHE, KS - Today, Representative Sharice Davids met with city, state, and regional leaders to discuss how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the largest investment in clean drinking water in American history, can help replace lead pipes across the Kansas Third. Lead exposure can cause severe illness, primarily in babies and infants, and there are an estimated 160,000 lead water lines are in Kansas – the third-highest per capita nationwide.
