Today, Representative Sharice Davids took official action to curb the growing threat of fentanyl, the number one cause of overdose death in the United States. In August, Davids hosted a summit with local, state, and federal law enforcement on the challenges they face handling the fentanyl epidemic. The actions announced today are a direct response to what she learned during that conversation.

KANSAS CITY, KS - Today, Representative Sharice Davids hosted Radhika Fox, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Assistant Administrator for Water, to announce nearly $80 million in bipartisan infrastructure law funding coming to Kansas to ensure clean drinking water across the state.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids visited the University of Kansas Medical Center's (KUMC) imaging center and the Shawnee Fire Department to tour three projects she sponsored for federal funding. The three local projects, along with 12 others, have been approved for funding by the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. Eight projects have passed the House thus far.

KANSAS CITY, KS – Today, Representative Sharice Davids joined Xochitl Torres Small, US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary for Rural Development, to announce USDA has awarded up to $45 million to Dairy Farmers of America (DFA). Headquartered in Kansas City, KS, DFA will use this historic funding to implement a new, climate-smart initiative to help Kansas farmers and consumers reduce emissions and access sustainably produced dairy products.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has awarded over $4.5 million to the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) to improve delivery speeds of unemployment insurance benefits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kansans applying for these benefits were met with significant delays due to outdated technology. This funding was provided through the American Rescue Plan Act, in which Davids was the only member of the Kansas delegation to support.

Yesterday, the Senate passed Representative Sharice Davids' bipartisan bill to advance innovative new aviation technology. The bill now heads to President Biden's desk to be signed into law. Davids, who serves as Vice Chair of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, introduced the Advanced Air Mobility Coordination and Leadership Act last year with Ranking Member of the Aviation Subcommittee Garret Graves (R-LA). Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) sponsored the companion bill in the Senate.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) awarded $200,000 to the Kansas Department of Commerce's State Trade Expansion Program (STEP). This funding will help Kansas small businesses begin to export goods and help existing exporters expand.

Yesterday, during a meeting with the Kansas Farm Bureau's Leadership Class, Representative Sharice Davids was presented with the "Friend of Farm Bureau" award from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF). The award is given to Members of Congress who have supported farmers, ranchers, and agricultural communities in the 117th Congress. Davids was nominated by the Kansas Farm Bureau and approved by the AFBF Board of Directors.
