Yesterday, during a panel hosted by the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City (AgBizKC), Representative Sharice Davids highlighted the importance of passing a bipartisan Farm Bill to support Kansas farmers, ranchers, and producers. The Farm Bill, which contains provisions expiring on September 30, 2023, is a package of legislation reauthorized about every five years that includes several critically important agriculture, conservation, nutrition, and trade programs.

Today, Representatives Sharice Davids (KS-03) and Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05) celebrated the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) $6.3 million award for the establishment of the All of Us Heartland Consortium, a collection of Midwest research hospitals working together to advance individual health outcomes. Led by the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), the Heartland Consortium also includes academic medical centers at the University of Iowa, the University of Missouri, and the University of Nebraska.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) with $530,000 to speed processing times of forensic DNA samples. The federal grant, provided by the DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program, will help Kansas law enforcement reduce violent crime, support local prosecutors, and create safer communities across the state.
