Yesterday, Representative Sharice Davids (KS-03) highlighted the infrastructure needs of Indian Country during a House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure hearing titled "Assessing the Transportation Needs of Tribes, Federal Land Management Agencies, and U.S. Territories." This is the first committee hearing on tribal infrastructure since 2002.

"Last year, the Kansas Supreme Court reaffirmed Kansans' fundamental right to make their own decisions about their bodies and health care. Tomorrow, the Kansas House will vote on a measure designed to take away that right and set our state up for a complete ban on abortion, even in the case of rape, incest, or health of the mother.

Representative Sharice Davids announced today that she will bring veteran and Purple Heart recipient Kyle Prellberg from Overland Park, Kansas as her guest to the State of the Union Address in Washington, DC on February 4.
Prellberg was injured while serving in Afghanistan in 2012 but due to an error did not receive a Purple Heart. With the help of Rep. Davids' office, Prellberg was able to receive his Purple Heart and was connected with the Veterans Community Project, which provided him with housing.

The tax credit extension has been central to the record-breaking government shutdown discussions. People who purchase insurance on the open market qualify for the credits.
The government shutdown is the second longest in U.S. history. The House of Representatives has voted to pass a funding bill for the federal government, although Davids voted against it Sept. 19. Davids is a Democrat in a Congress where Republicans control the House, the Senate and the White House.
