This week, Representatives Sharice Davids (D-KS-03) and Tom Cole (R-OK-04), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Native American Caucus, reintroduced the Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies Act of 2024legislation to investigate, document, and report on the histories of Indian boarding schools, Indian boarding school policies, and long-term impacts on Native communities.

OLATHE, KS – Today, Representative Sharice Davids joined Honeywell to announce a major investment to expand its Olathe manufacturing facility. The project will contribute $18.3 million to the local economy within the first six years and create more than 350 good-paying jobs in the area.

This week, Representative Sharice Davids introduced legislation designating the week of February 5, 2024 as “National Tribal Colleges and Universities Week.” The resolution recognizes the importance of these institutions to the economic, educational, and social wellbeing of Indian Country. Davids serves as the Co-Chair of the Congressional Native American Caucus and was one of the first two Native women elected to Congress.

January 31, 2024

Today, Representative Sharice Davids voted to pass a bipartisan tax package that cuts taxes for hardworking families and small businesses in Kansas. The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024 includes policies Davids has long supported, such as the Child Tax Credit (CTC), small business research and development (R&D) credits, and affordable housing provisions. The package passed the U.S. House tonight with a vote of 357 – 70, demonstrating strong bipartisan support.

Residents are encouraged to mail cards to Davids’ office in Overland Park or email a message to KS03valentinesforvets@gmail.com starting today through Friday, February 9.
