Today, Representative Sharice Davids called for a dual approach to Medicaid expansion in the upcoming budget reconciliation package, urging Congressional leaders to both continue the current expansion incentives and include a federal plan to expand Medicaid coverage in states like Kansas, where state legislatures have repeatedly blocked it. Kansas is one of 12 states that has chosen not to take the financial incentives and expand Medicaid, leaving as many as 165,000 Kansans without access to affordable health care during a pandemic.

Davids is the only member of the Kansas delegation who voted for this tax cut, which was expanded and improved through the American Rescue Plan to put more money back in the pockets of more families.

Representative Sharice Davids (KS-03) issued the following statement on August 6, 2021:

"Earlier today, I received a positive COVID-19 PCR test result. My symptoms are mild, and per CDC and House Attending Physician Guidance I am continuing to isolate at home, where I have been since an unrelated outpatient parathyroid surgery. I have followed CDC recommended precautions throughout this pandemic, including masking indoors in areas of high or substantial transmission.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced that the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program granted more than $12.2 million in pandemic relief aid to eligible venues, museums, and performing arts institutions in the Third District of Kansas. Davids voted to establish the program, which provides support to hard-hit businesses in the music and entertainment sector, and has been strongly advocating for venue owners throughout the program's execution.
