KMBC reported this week on the $1.4 million in state and federal funding Rep. Sharice Davids helped secure for Lenexa business Dentec to manufacture personal protection equipment needed during the pandemic, such as face masks and N95 filters. The funding has allowed the company to open a new facility and hire 5 times the workers they started with.

Lenexa business Dentec has received around $1.4 million in state and federal funding to manufacture personal protection equipment (PPE), thanks in part to funding secured by Representative Sharice Davids. They are now in the process of expanding to open a new plant that will allow them to produce even more supplies needed to fight COVID, such as masks and N95 filters.

Representative Sharice Davids has been named Chair of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access. The new leadership role will allow Davids to support small businesses in Kansas and across the country through open access to loans, credit and capital, as well as through fair and meaningful tax relief.

Representative Sharice Davids today announced her third annual "Valentines for Veterans" program to collect and distribute Valentine's Day cards to veterans in Kansas' 3rd District.

Residents are encouraged to mail cards to Davids' office in Kansas City or email a digital card to KS03valentinesforvets@gmail.com starting today through Friday, February 12. Davids will then drop off the cards at the Kansas City VA.

Today, Kansas City Reps. Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05) and Sharice Davids (KS-03) made a friendly wager with Tampa Bay area Reps. Kathy Castor (FL14) and Charlie Crist (FL13) on the outcome of Super Bowl LV. If Tampa Bay wins, the Kansas City representatives will provide world-famous KC barbeque and wear Buccaneers masks on the House Floor when Congress is back in session, and if Kansas City wins, the Tampa members will provide beloved local Latin guava pastries, flan and Cuban sandwiches and wear Kansas City masks on the Floor.

Rep. Sharice Davids has nominated 31 students from the Kansas Third District for an appointment to a U.S. Service Academy.

"As the daughter of an Army veteran, I'm honored to nominate hardworking, bright, and talented young people from Kansas' Third District to our nation's military service academies," said Davids. "These are some of the best universities in the country and help build strong leaders in our armed forces and beyond. I look forward to seeing all that these young Kansans accomplish."
