Today, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed a bipartisan unemployment reform package that dedicates $500 million of American Rescue Plan funding to overhaul the 40-year old computer system used to distribute unemployment assistance in Kansas.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids will host a Facebook Live webinar on the Restaurant Revitalization Fund. Michael L. Barrera, District Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration in Kansas City, will join Davids to provide information on the program and walk through how local restaurants can apply.

Rep. Sharice Davids (KS-03) today took part in a New Democrat Coalition leadership meeting with White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, Counselor Steve Ricchetti, and Director of Legislative Affairs Louisa Terrell. The discussion, which took place in the West Wing, centered on working collaboratively on legislation and New Democrat policy priorities for the American Jobs Plan and upcoming American Family Plan. Davids is a vice chair of the New Democrat Coalition (NDC).

"Today was a step toward justice. I hope the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial gives George's Floyd's family some sense of closure, something that hasn't been afforded to countless Black families who have suffered centuries of injustice in this country. And although we saw accountability today, there have been far too many instances in our country's history when we have not seen it. The Senate must pass the Justice in Policing Act now to combat America's horrible pattern of violence and brutality against Black people and to ensure transparency and accountability in the future.

At a House Small Business Committee hearing today Representative Sharice Davids asked government oversight officials to address issues of fraud and identity theft in small business loan programs to help victims of fraud in Johnson County.


April 16, 2021

This week, two bipartisan pieces of legislation Rep. Sharice Davids reintroduced with her colleagues last month passed the House. The 504 Modernization and Small Manufacturer Enhancement Act and the 504 Credit Risk Management Improvement Act both help to improve the Small Business Administration's 504 Loan Program which provides long-term, fixed rate financing for small businesses to promote business growth and job creation.
