Last week, Representative Sharice Davids rode the Johnson County Railroad and toured Logistics Hub KC to draw attention to her work to improve local infrastructure, create jobs, and tackle rising costs. As new data shows manufacturing jobs continue to rebound, Davids highlighted her support for making more in Kansas, saying "when we make more here at home, and when we invest in strong supply chains, we lower costs for folks at every point."

Today, Representative Sharice Davids shared four new funding opportunities for Kansas small businesses provided by the American Rescue Plan. Davids is the only member of the Kansas delegation who voted for the American Rescue Plan, which has already helped hundreds of businesses in the Kansas Third District stay afloat. Davids also serves as the Chair of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids hosted a Facebook Live conversation on the infant formula shortage and shared resources to ensure families have convenient access to safe and affordable formula. Davids was joined by Dr. Natasha Burgert, MD, FAAP, a pediatrician in Overland Park, who shared that families should speak to a pediatrician and have caution when deciding on an alternative form of nutrition for their child.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced that 15 students from the Kansas Third District have successfully received their appointment to a U.S. Service Academy or a preparatory program. In a sendoff event in Overland Park this afternoon, Davids presented each student with a certificate acknowledging their incredible achievement, and Julia Breidenthal, a current student at the United States Coast Guard Academy, shared her advice as these students take the next step in their service.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the Unified Government of Wyandotte County will receive $216,000 to establish a Public Health AmeriCorps Program, and Overland Park will receive $139,410 of renewed funding for their AmeriCorps VISTA Program. In total, this funding will support 30 new AmeriCorps members in Kansas' Third District.

Last night, Representative Sharice Davids voted to allow law enforcement officers to access disability benefits for post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health challenges that arise as a result of their service. The bipartisan Public Safety Officer Support Act would also expand the Public Safety Officers' Benefit (PSOB) program to ensure that families of officers who lost their lives to trauma-linked suicide can apply for the death benefits that they deserve.

This week, Representative Sharice Davids led her colleagues to call on the IRS to increase a tax deduction used by small business owners and the self-employed. Along with Representative Ruben Gallego (AZ-07), she urged the IRS Commissioner to increase the standard mileage deduction rate and give small business owners a break from rising gas prices.

Why it matters: Quindaro Townsite is not open to the public, and the federal funding that comes with a National Historic Landmark designation would make that possible.

Increases in diesel and gasoline prices are already impacting farmers as they plant crops in Sumner County. Kansas State University economist Gregg Ibendahl estimates that the average Kansas grain farm will spend an additional $10,000 on fuel this season.

Kansas State-Olathe campus representatives joined other local governments Tuesday to highlight new federal funding secured in February by 3rd District Rep. Sharice Davids and Sen. Jerry Moran.

 

K-State Olathe is set to receive $5 million later this year to purchase lab equipment for the school’s supply chain research and advanced manufacturing curriculum. The equipment will support a $4 million expansion the campus opened in January for those programs.

On April 7, Rep. Sharice Davids joined local leaders to announce 14 projects in Kansas’ Third District totaling $17.8 million. The funding will support workforce training, flood mitigation, road and bridge safety, law enforcement, and other community priorities.

The FDA gave accelerated approval for a groundbreaking drug that helps treat Hunter syndrome, a rare disease that affects fewer than 500 people in the United States. It's mainly diagnosed among boys.

 

Hunter syndrome has not had an FDA-approved treatment in 20 years, until now.

Rep. Sharice Davids announced Monday that the Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation’s (ECKAN) Head Start program with a new federal grant.

 

The $3.7 million will be used to continue providing early education opportunities and family support services to children and families in Anderson and Miami counties.

 


April 3, 2026

Representative Sharice Davids celebrated the reopening of the STARBASE facility at the Kansas City Readiness Center. The program offers hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) learning for elementary students at no cost to schools. Governor Laura Kelly, Senator Roger Marshall, Representative Derek Schmidt, and local leaders, teachers, and students joined the event.
