OLATHE, KS - Today, Representative Sharice Davids joined the Johnson County Airport Commission to reopen Taxiway Bravo at Johnson County Executive Airport. The $5.7 million renovation of the aging taxiway, the final of three phases, was 100 percent funded by the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which Davids has voted to support.

SHAWNEE, KS - Today, Representative Sharice Davids toured a local childcare facility to highlight how federal investments have supported the workforce and daily operations of local childcare small businesses. Davids visited Happy Campers Montessori School in Shawnee, which received American Rescue Plan support for childcare-focused continued education and workforce development.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids released the following statement on today’s Supreme Court decision in 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis. Today’s ruling provides an unprecedented constitutional basis for businesses involved in providing customized “expressive” services to discriminate against marginalized communities currently protected by public accommodations nondiscrimination laws.

DE SOTO, KS - Today, Representative Sharice Davids helped break ground on new infrastructure improvements to 103rd Street in De Soto, which will be the main roadway for those traveling to the planned Panasonic Energy manufacturing facility. Davids joined Governor Laura Kelly, Senator Jerry Moran, De Soto Mayor Rick Walker, and other local and state leaders to highlight the project’s objective of creating good-paying jobs, recruiting new businesses, and encouraging growth throughout the community.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids visited the Johnson County Regional Police Academy, where she joined current trainees in learning certain skills needed to keep our communities safe. The Police Academy, located on Johnson County Community College’s campus, was established to provide basic law enforcement training for newly hired officers from 18 police agencies in Johnson County.

KANSAS CITY, MO - Today, Representatives Sharice Davids (KS-03) and Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) with a total of $14,888,000 in bipartisan infrastructure law funding. The two grants will fund structural improvements at KCATA’s bus storage and electric vehicle charging facility and strengthen access to housing, health care, employment, and education for citizens in the Kansas City metro area.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) awarded Kansas with $452 million in bipartisan infrastructure law funding to deploy affordable, equitable, and reliable high-speed Internet service throughout the state.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded Johnson County Community College (JCCC) with $75,129 to enhance on-campus mental health services. The Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant will support JCCC students at risk of suicide, depression, serious mental illness, and/or substance use disorders that can lead to school failure.
