Today, Representative Sharice Davids voted to pass bipartisan legislation aimed at lowering costs for Kansas families and making more goods in America. The CHIPS and Science Act is a major investment in domestic semiconductor chip manufacturing and includes support for small- and medium-sized manufacturers, a Davids-led priority to ensure funding is distributed beyond large corporations. The bill now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded $1,487,766 to Johnson County Community College's (JCCC) STEM Scholars Program. The program works to increase STEM degree completion of low-income, high-achieving undergraduates with demonstrated financial need. In the next six years, the project will provide scholarships to 54 students pursuing associate degrees in STEM fields with the intent to transfer to a 4-year university.

Today, the House passed Representative Sharice Davids' bipartisan legislation to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), enshrining marriage equality in federal law. The Respect for Marriage Act would also provide additional legal protections for marriage equality from those seeking to undermine it at the state level.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids introduced legislation to increase access to birth control and reproductive health care services. The Expanding Access to Family Planning Act would fund the Title X Family Planning program, which provides comprehensive, confidential family planning and preventive health services, often to low-income or minority populations. Currently, there are three Title X clinics in Kansas' Third District.

Last night, Representative Sharice Davids voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23), which invests in our nation's service members, innovation and technology, allies and partners, and diversity to strengthen our national security. The NDAA is passed by congress annually to update defense policies and determine how military funding is spent. The bill passed with large bipartisan support.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids welcomed the announcement that Panasonic Energy's application to build an electric vehicle battery plant in Kansas has been approved and a potential site in De Soto, Kansas has been selected. Davids worked closely with Governor Laura Kelly and local leaders in government and business to help attract the $4 billion investment, which is expected to create 4,000 jobs.

GARDNER, KS - Today, Representative Sharice Davids toured the Gardner wastewater infrastructure project, which was recently approved for federal funding. The project is aimed at creating new space for residential and commercial development as Gardner has the highest projected population growth rate in Johnson County through 2030. Davids was joined by Gardner Mayor Todd Winters and City Administrator Jim Preutting.

Yesterday, Representative Sharice Davids welcomed Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02), Chair of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure's Aviation Subcommittee, to Kansas' Third District. Davids and Larsen spoke with local aviation leaders and community partners and toured a manufacturing facility and the Kansas City International Airport (MCI). Davids serves as the Vice Chair of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.
