Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced that more than $15.7 million is coming to projects in the Third District of Kansas, including a new cancer imaging machine for The University of Kansas Cancer Center, funding to protect Merriam homes and businesses from flooding with the Upper Turkey Creek project, and more. Out of hundreds of bipartisan submissions, eight Davids-requested projects were passed into law last night as part of the broader government funding bill.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids voted to pass the bipartisan government funding bill after standing up to leadership to ensure Kansans receive their fair share of COVID relief funds. The package passed the House today, sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine and unlocking overdue infrastructure funds along with several other priorities championed by Davids, including reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act and more than $15 million for community projects in the Third District of Kansas.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded nearly $300,000 to two local agricultural businesses through their Rural Development Awards program. This funding will create good-paying jobs, decrease food insecurity, and strengthen the economy in Kansas' Third District. Nationally, USDA's Rural Development programs are projected to help create or save more than 50,000 jobs in rural America through investments made in fiscal year 2021.

Today, Representatives Sharice Davids (KS-03) and Emanuel Cleaver, II (MO-05) toured the Port of Kansas City's Woodswether Terminal and announced historic new funding from the bipartisan infrastructure law for critical ports such as this one. The lawmakers voted to bring long-overdue investments to Kansas and Missouri's infrastructure through the new law, including nearly $450 million in newly available grant funding for port-related projects through the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP)—by far the largest investment in the program ever.
