Last week, KMBC 9 News reported on Representative Sharice Davids' work to help constituents navigate the federal government, particularly her team's efforts to assist with passport retrieval issues. In 2022 alone, Davids' office has opened over 90 cases for constituents having issues securing a new or renewed passport before their international travel.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids toured the Cedar Lake Dam in Olathe, which is currently designated as a high hazard dam by the Kansas Division of Water Resources. Davids' funding request to design and build a new dam and spillway at Cedar Lake is one of 15 local projects that have been approved by the U.S.

Tonight, the Senate passed the Honoring our PACT Act, bipartisan legislation that expands Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care eligibility to 3.5 million veterans exposed to toxins and airborne hazards while deployed. Last month, Representative Sharice Davids, whose mother served in the army for 20 years, voted to pass this bill, which authorizes $40,027,000 to expand outpatient services at the Kansas City, Missouri VA.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids hosted U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Jenny Lester Moffitt in Kansas' Third District to highlight lowering costs for processing, packaging, and consumer purchasing of locally sourced meats. Davids serves on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee which oversees USDA and its Meat and Poultry Supply Chain initiative.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids voted to pass bipartisan legislation aimed at lowering costs for Kansas families and making more goods in America. The CHIPS and Science Act is a major investment in domestic semiconductor chip manufacturing and includes support for small- and medium-sized manufacturers, a Davids-led priority to ensure funding is distributed beyond large corporations. The bill now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids announced the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded $1,487,766 to Johnson County Community College's (JCCC) STEM Scholars Program. The program works to increase STEM degree completion of low-income, high-achieving undergraduates with demonstrated financial need. In the next six years, the project will provide scholarships to 54 students pursuing associate degrees in STEM fields with the intent to transfer to a 4-year university.

Today, the House passed Representative Sharice Davids' bipartisan legislation to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), enshrining marriage equality in federal law. The Respect for Marriage Act would also provide additional legal protections for marriage equality from those seeking to undermine it at the state level.
