KANSAS CITY, KS – Today, Representative Sharice Davids held a press conference on a new federal strategy to expand Medicaid in states like Kansas, where state legislatures have repeatedly blocked it. Davids called for the upcoming budget reconciliation package to both continue current expansion incentives and include a federal plan to expand Medicaid coverage. She was joined by local advocates and health care professionals who have seen first-hand the need to expand Medicaid coverage in the Third District and across Kansas.

Today, Representative Sharice Davids took a stand for small businesses, urging Congressional leaders to use the upcoming budget reconciliation package to increase access to capital for small manufacturers. Davids called for the inclusion of policies like the SUPPLIES Act, which was inspired by the story of a Lenexa-based manufacturer, to ensure small manufacturers can secure the financing they need to succeed long-term.
Today, Representative Sharice Davids called for a dual approach to Medicaid expansion in the upcoming budget reconciliation package, urging Congressional leaders to both continue the current expansion incentives and include a federal plan to expand Medicaid coverage in states like Kansas, where state legislatures have repeatedly blocked it. Kansas is one of 12 states that has chosen not to take the financial incentives and expand Medicaid, leaving as many as 165,000 Kansans without access to affordable health care during a pandemic.
