Rep. Sharice Davids today released a report highlighting the high prices of diabetes medication like insulin for seniors and the uninsured populations in Kansas' Third Congressional district.

The report found that Kansas Third residents are paying drastically higher prices than they would in other countries, placing a significant economic burden on both taxpayers and patients.

In the wake of mass shootings in El Paso, TX, and Dayton, OH, over the weekend, Rep. Davids issued the following statement calling on the Senate to act on gun safety:

In less than 24 hours, our country has seen two mass shootings that left at least 29 people dead. Whole communities, entire families, and more than one country were devastated by loss this weekend. And this is not the first time we have woken up to this reality.

Rep. Sharice Davids offered the following statement on House passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2019:

"I'm pleased that we were able to pass a bipartisan, 2-year agreement so we can provide funding for essential government operations and address the impending debt ceiling and budgetary caps. Failing to act would have had devastating effects for the people of the Third District as well as for our country's national security and economy, and could have led to another disastrous government shutdown.

Last night, Rep. Sharice Davids voted to pass H.R. 3239, the Humanitarian Standards for Individuals in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Custody Act, which would establish basic humanitarian standards of care for individuals in CBP custody.

Rep. Davids issued the following statement on the House passage of H.R.582, the Raise the Wage Act.

"After more than a decade with no raise in the federal minimum wage – the longest period in U.S. history – I was proud to vote today for a phased-in increase to the federal minimum wage to help hard-working Kansans and their families. The Raise the Wage Act would increase wages for up to 27.3 million Americans, helping to create an economy that works for everyone, not just wealthy corporations and special interests.

Rep. Sharice Davids today introduced the SERV Act, a bill to help Veteran-owned businesses succeed by studying the barriers these businesses face, including lack of access to capital and credit.

"Growing up with a parent in the army, I saw firsthand the challenges our service members face when transitioning to new jobs after time in the military. There are so many veterans in Kansas with the entrepreneurial skills it takes to run a small business, and we must do a better job at setting them up for success," said Davids.

Sharice Davids advocated for Kansas City-area infrastructure needs during a Third District visit from Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chair Peter DeFazio (OR-04) and Aviation Subcommittee Chair Rick Larsen (WA-02) this past weekend. Davids is also a member of the Committee and Vice Chair of the Aviation Subcommittee.
